Coming from Mysore or
Bangalore
If
you are coming from Bangalore, ask for directions to Mysore and when
you reach Mysore, ask for directions to Calicut.
Mysore is famous for its palaces, sandalwood, crafts, Vrindavan and the
Nandi temple. The Nandi temple is up a hill and is just on the
outskirts of Mysore on the way to Calicut.
While coming from Mysore, you will pass by the towns of Nandankode and

The straight road would have taken you to Ooty, via the Bandipur and
Mudumalai sancturay.
Coming on the calicut road, your will pass through a forest, which is
part of the Bandipur tiger reserve and then the Wayanad wild life
sanctuary.

Wayanad
wild life santuary
|
|
In
the wild life santuary, common animals you could see are wild fowl,
deer, bison and elephants. Tigers are a rare find. It is advisable not
to approach any wild animal. Elephants in a herd are usually quite
harmless. If you find a herd, do not panic, and do not honk. Wait at a
distance and let them cross the road.
You will cross the Kerala state boundary in the forest. After you pass
through the forests, you will pass through small towns of Muthanga and
Kalloor.
Hunting
is stictly prohibitted in the santuary. Before and after you cross the
forests, you will find a few checkposts. You are not allowed to bring
any alcohol to Kerala.
We
are about 35 meters before the
pulpally-mysore junction; you will pass by our homestay just before you
reach the town of Sulthan Bathery. |
